The Online edition of German paper Die Zeit published today an interview about self-employed and freelancing artists.

For people who want to train their German even more – below my untranslated commentary that I left, after a software engineer claimed in the comments section, that he could not understand all those complaints. He had been freelancing and did just great! – Only small thing he missed, that software fellow: this is exactly what this Die Zeit article is all about: artists delivering ideas but creeping on their teeth and (and I quote) “gross profit made more likely by software developers”
…excuse all you developers out there who DO live in an unheated storage room unable to feed their three kids!!

Ich selbst bin vermutlich einer der “Kreativen” des Artikels: Mitglied der KSK und mehrerer honorabler Berufsverbände, zwei kleine Kinder, kein Auto, kein Geschirrspueler, keine ausreichende Altersvorsorge – denn dazu reicht das Geld nicht.
Leben im umgewidmeten Lagerraum mit Wasseranschluss oder im Abbruchhaus ohne Heizung. – “Du hast Dir den Beruf selbst gewählt.” sagt meine Mutter. Und sie hat recht. Und ich liebe ihn. Den Beruf.
Neben täglich 2-3 Stunden Aquise und Selbst-Marketing wünscht man sich aber eben doch hie und da schlicht finanzielle Anerkennung.
Oh und: etwas Sicherheit BEVOR die eigenen Eltern das zeitliche Segnen und man das Häuschen erbt, so ein wenig Sicherheit wäre doch auch nett.
